Alpine Tilden Tenakill Lodge No. 77. Tenafly, New Jersey. In continuous operation since 1867.
We are a lodge of Freemasons that call 404 Tenafly Road in Tenafly, New Jersey our second home. We conduct our business under the authority of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of New Jersey. We have met here — or near here, under one name or another — since January 17, 1867.
The men of this lodge come from many towns of New Jersey and New York — lodges that have consolidated and merged for the better part of the last two centuries into the single lodge that meets today. The names Alpine, Tilden, and Tenakill are carried in our name as a reminder of where we came from and what was preserved.
We meet twice a month. We share a meal, the work of the lodge, and the kind of conversation that keeps men coming back.
We are not a networking club, a charity drive, or a secret society in the conspiratorial sense. We are a fraternity — a word that has been worn smooth by overuse but still means what it says: a body of men who regard one another as brothers, who hold themselves to a common standard, and who show up for each other.
The work is internal. The Craft asks a man to measure himself honestly — his conduct, his character, his relationships. That is harder than it sounds, and it does not get easier. That is the point.
